Three people get killed in New South Wales
State police said officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Lake Cargelligo area, where three fatalities were confirmed. The incident occurred on Walker Street, close to the intersection with Yelkin Street, according to official information.
“Three people -- two women and a man -- have died,” police said in a statement.
Investigators have not yet determined the motive or circumstances that led to the shooting. Police also confirmed that a man was transported to hospital and is receiving treatment “in a serious but stable condition.”
Residents were warned to remain cautious as the situation continues to unfold. “The public is urged to avoid the area and for local residents to stay inside."
According to reports, the suspected shooter “is still at large,” prompting heightened concern among local authorities.
Police confirmed that the area has been secured for forensic examination and that inquiries are ongoing. “A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident has commenced," officials said.
Local representatives echoed police warnings, urging residents to remain indoors due to the ongoing threat. “As there has been a number of shootings and the offender has not been detained - please stay indoors until the advice changes," a local lawmaker said in a public statement.
